The Power of Engineering Inc. – Call for event volunteers and industry partners

New industry-based, not-for-profit organisation Power of Engineering is calling for volunteers and industry partners to help spread the word about engineering careers among students.

With the aim of increasing the number of women and non-traditional entrants to the profession, Power of Engineering runs events and activities that inspire students to consider a career in engineering and choose to study subjects that will assist them on this career path.

In collaboration with Engineers Australia, AECOM and Queensland University of Technology, Power of Engineering is planning a series of free, one day events for year nine and 10 students.

Featuring practical workshops and guest speakers, the events dispel some of the myths about the profession and demonstrate how engineering can change the world. Students will participate in various engineering exercises, and receive advice from successful engineers.

Power of Engineering is seeking participation from:

• One-off volunteers,
• Ongoing volunteers (time commitment flexible),
• Event project managers for Queensland and interstate regions,
• Local engineering projects to tour (e.g. tours for 10 + students at your site), and
• Industry partners.

This is an excellent opportunity to build connections with industry employers, give back to your community, add project management skills to your CV, and/or showcase yourself or your company’s projects in a number of Queensland and interstate regions.

To get involved or find out more, email [email protected] or connect via their Facebook page.
