GOLD miner St Barbara’s bid to cut the gender pay gap has won national recognition as the Australian Women in Resources Alliance calls for an increase in the number of women in male-dominated roles.

…the Australian Women in Resources Alliance has pointed to the most recent data, which shows the number of women working in the industry fell from 15.5 per cent of the total workforce to 13.9 per cent in the year to May.

Tara Diamond, executive director of the Australian Mines and Metals Association, which facilitates the AWRA, said areas traditionally dominated by men should be the immediate focus of diversity-savvy employers.
