AREEA members are invited to provide input on proposed changes to occupational health and safety regulations in Victoria.
A review is underway to remake the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007, which will expire next year, and implement them by 1 July 2017.
WorkSafe Victoria has proposed numerous changes to ‘streamline and modernise’ the regulations to ‘better reflect current Victorian work practices’.
Areas of proposed change that will directly impact on mining operations include:
- Hazardous manual handling;
- Noise;
- Prevention of falls;
- Confined spaces;
- Plant;
- High risk work;
- Hazardous substances;
- Scheduled carcinogenic substances;
- Asbestos;
- Lead;
- Construction;
- Major hazard facilities;
- Mines;
- Licenses and registration; and
- Exemptions.
