AREEA Training and Development consultant Craig Gilvarry wraps up the past 12 months in workforce development and offers a glimpse of what lies ahead for up-skilling opportunities in 2014.

AREEA Training and Development has finished a big year across all training disciplines and has continued to expand and refine the variety of courses we deliver. Now with the New Year just around the corner, preparing for a successful 2014 is at the top of every business agenda.

In the last AREEA Bulletin, director Janine Temple wrote about planning for a year of growth in 2014 by creating a training schedule. To ensure our members are well-positioned to do that, AREEA Training and Development will release our training calendar for the first half of 2014 next week.

The new calendar includes all of our nationally recognised training as well as our popular industrial relations courses AREEA will send a copy of the calendar to our members’ training representatives once released.

Our most popular courses continue to be in the industrial relations area, with the two most popular being the Contact Officer and the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) courses. These courses are utilised by companies looking to give their staff an understanding of their duties under the legislation and also how to behave in dealing with these issues in the workplace.

In our Nationally Recognised Training space, AREEA has continued developing a suite of new materials to match the new versions of qualifications being released across the industry. Some of the courses that have been changed include the full set of Work Health and Safety, Frontline Management and Human Resources qualifications. AREEA has also started delivering the Language and Literacy unit which will become a core unit in the Training and Assessing qualification from June next year.
