Help define how IR dispute data is measured

AREEA members are invited to provide feedback on how the Australian Bureau of Statistics collects and measures industrial disputation data.

The ABS are conducting a comprehensive review of industrial dispute statistics to ensure it accurately represents the national workplace environment following significant changes to industrial relations legislation and the structure of the labour market. The last review was conducted in 1999.

The ABS review covers:

  • whether the scope of ID statistics is relevant;
  • whether data relating to industrial disputation continues to meet users’ critical requirements; and
  • whether collection activities and data sources represent the most efficient and relevant sources in respect to the scope and critical data requirements that are needed to analyse industrial disputation in Australia.

Further details of the review are contained in the discussion paper and PowerPoint presentation.

The invitation to members comes from the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), of which AREEA is a member.

To participate in this review, please provide your responses to ACCI via e-mail to [email protected] by 5.00pm on Friday, 9 August 2013.
