Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.
John C Crosby

Mentoring has been identified as one practical way to encourage the participation and advancement of women in the workforce. For women in the resource, allied and related construction industries however, remote locations, complex rosters and a shortage of female colleagues has created a need for an alternative to traditional face-to-face mentoring programs.

e-Mentoring gives mentees (anchor) and mentors (anchor) a way to work together, wherever they are, and fits in with their busy working lives.

Since February 2013 the AWRA e-Mentoring Program has commenced over 100 pairs of mentoring partnerships as part of its pilot program. This pilot program was funded by the Australian Government through the National Resources Sector Workforce Strategy and has now been completed.

We are pleased to announce that further funding has been provided by the Australian Government’s Office for Women to continue the AWRA e-Mentoring Program for a further two years. Expressions of interest are now being sought to participate in the program with rounds commencing on:

  • 19 August 2014
  • 30 September 2014
  • 20 October 2014
  • 10 November 2014
  • 27 January 2015
  • 10 March 2015
  • 20 April 2015

Consider taking part as a mentor (anchor) or mentee (anchor) in the AWRA e-Mentoring Program and encourage your colleagues to get involved too. This is an excellent professional and personal development opportunity for both mentees and mentors.
