On 9 May, AREEA met with the Chair of METS Ignited to discuss an industry-led, government-funded Industry Growth Centre for the Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) sector.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide input into the development of framework for strengthening Australia’s position as the hub for global mining innovation and enhance the competitive advantage of the $90 billion Australian METS sector.
In July of this year, METS Ignited plan to deliver a “sector competitiveness plan”, which will focus on key levers to strengthen sector growth, focusing on collaboration, commercialisation, innovation, global supply chains, and skills and workforce development.
AREEA has been a long-term advocate for advancing the Australian METS sector, as well as for making the entire resource industry an attractive and competitive place to invest, do business, and employ people.
