THE Productivity Commission is currently conducting an inquiry into the non-financial barriers to mineral and energy resource exploration.
In addition to making an initial submission and appearing at a public hearing, this week AREEA made a final submission to the inquiry. The final submission provided comment on Productivity Commission Draft Report, Mineral and Energy Resource Exploration, May 2013.
AREEA’s submission urged the Productivity Commission to make recommendations regarding:
- The consistent application by Australian governments of principles of best practice regulation.
- Workplace relations reform to boost the productivity and competitiveness of the resource industry, including mineral and energy resource exploration.
Further information about the Productivity Commission’s inquiry, including the AREEA contributions, is available here.
The final report of the Productivity Commission will be forwarded to the Australian Government in September 2013.
