Female workers play an important role in fulfilling current and forecasted skills shortages across the Australian mining, hydrocarbons, energy, construction and related service sectors, and increasing gender diversity is an industry imperative.
The Australian Women in Resources Alliance (AWRA) is an industry-led initiative dedicated to helping employers attract, retain and reap the rewards of women in resources workplaces.
AWRA is jointly funded by the Australian Government through the National Resource Sector Workforce Strategy and the resource industry employer group AREEA, with leadership from industry bodies and employers across Australia. The AWRA Program is delivering a range of projects to inform and support employers.
The Way Forward paper details the motives behind AWRA’s formation and the key barriers to female participation in resources jobs. It outlines how AWRA can facilitate the appropriate cultural change, promote best practice workplace policies and strengthen and unite the various women’s networks and major industry stakeholders across Australia.
There are a number of ways that you and your organisation can become involved with AWRA – a few of them are shown below. Contact us to express your interest in these and other activities, and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible to discuss
