Flexibility in Modern Awards
Having flexible rosters and working arrangements is vitally important to working families as well as employers – particularly when it comes to JOBS in the resources sector.
Following extensive consultation AMMA lodged a detailed submission with the Australian Industrial Relations Commission – outlining how best to ensure the transition to modern awards was a smooth one and did not threaten jobs.
Having a flexible system helps both employers protect jobs as well as ensure working Australians can get their work-life balance right.
As a result, enterprise awards and state-based enterprise awards are being excluded out of the general award modernisation process - and there will now be greater flexibility in awards.
