WOMEN are fast becoming a crucial component in the resource industry workforce, representing a near untapped source of innovative ideas and experience. With skills demand continuing to rise, it is never too early or too late to meet the workforce challenge, and get ahead in gender diversity.
The Queensland Government and the Australian Women in Resources Alliance (AWRA) are making that mission easier to accomplish. Applications for the Supporting Women Scholarships are now open, and the program promises assist women pursuing careers in the resource and construction industries.
From Certificate IV to postgraduate studies, scholarships are being offered to women studying:
- Agriculture and Environment;
- Architecture and Building;
- Earth Science;
- Engineering; and
- Information technology.
The Supporting Women Scholarships are not just an opportunity for up-and-comers; they are an opportunity for employers, too. With the help of AWRA, industry employers can give these women scholars real-life experience through internships and work placements, potentially gaining a trained and qualified employee in the process.
This is an excellent opportunity for AREEA members to capitalise on the development of new talent, raise gender diversity in the workplace and become an employer of choice in the competitive job market. If you’d like to know more about how
