THE Northern Territory Government has launched a book detailing the region’s geology, mineralogy and petroleum resources in an effort to boost mines and energy investment.
Compiled by the Department of Mines and Energy, Geology and Mineral Resources of the NT is an industry-first publication featuring descriptions of every named geological unit, significant mineral deposit and petroleum field in the Northern Territory.
Mines and energy minister Willem Westra van Holthe said the 1100-page dossier highlights the Territory’s resource potential.
“With the publication of this book, mineral and petroleum explorers have a single point of reference to access the latest in geological knowledge and understanding of the Territory’s resources,” Mr Westra van Holthe said.
“This book will not only be a definitive reference for existing explorers but will also act as a prospectus to attract further investments into the Territory.
