PLANNED changes to the Resource Industry Training Package will have major impact on resource companies that currently provide training in Surface Extraction Operations or Underground Metalliferous Mining.
In line with the new Standards for Training Package Development, SkillsDMC submitted a new streamlined Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII) training package to the National Skills Standards Council (NSSC) for endorsement in August 2013.
As a direct result of the changes, registered training organisations (RTOs) such as AREEA will be required to update their scope of delivery for all RII training package qualifications and units of competency.
AREEA will be working with a number of our partner organisations within the resources industry to ensure that required changes are addressed in a planned and structured way that limits disruption to planned training within their worksites.
The training and assessment strategies and assessment tools used for the many specialist units within the Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations and the Certificate III in Underground Metalliferous Mining will need to be redrafted to reflect the updated performance criteria and related critical aspects of evidence.
AREEA have worked very closely with our partner organisations over the past 2 years, ensuring that our Resources and Infrastructure Industry training is highly contextualised and tailored to specific workplace requirements and tightly integrated to SWPs (Standard Work Practices) both at a theoretical and practical level within an enterprise.
If your enterprise has an interest in the updated RII training package requirements then please contact AREEA Training and Development on 1800 891 662 to ensure that you are kept up to date as and when the changes are implemented.
