LOCAL businesses across New South Wales will soon be recognised for the important contribution they make in supporting the state’s resource industry with an awards ceremony to take place later this month.

Organised by the New South Wales Minerals Council, the second annual NSW Mining Suppliers Awards will acknowledge businesses from four supporting categories, being Professional Services, Mining Technology, Manufacturing & Engineering and Small Business Suppliers.

Finalists for the awards, announced last week, range from small to large organisations and include law firms, logistics operators, software specialists and charter flight providers who together contribute to the success of the resource industry.

Chief of NSW Minerals Council Stephen Galilee said the resource industry owed thanks local businesses that provide vital services to the mining sector.

“There are thousands of companies that are absolutely critical to mining in NSW; they help our industry contribute to the economic strength and stability of our state,” he said.

“From legal and accounting services, to equipment and machinery manufacturers, labour hire, engineering, construction; even local accommodation and food and beverage providers are important suppliers to our industry.

“We are proud to celebrate their work as part of the NSW Mining Industry and Suppliers Conference.”

Winners for the Suppliers Awards will be announced at the NSW Mining Suppliers Awards Gala Dinner in Sydney on 24 October 2013, following the NSW Mining and Suppliers Conference.
