Resource employers will have the opportunity to connect with thousands of eager Western Australian jobseekers at the National Conference in May as AREEA hosts the first industry-run recruiting event – the AREEA miningoilandgasjobs.com Expo.
The escalating skills shortage will impact the resource and allied industries in the near future and coupled with the burgeoning number of projects, AREEA members are seeking innovative strategies to source and retain employees.
Since attending the Queensland mining jobs expos in 2011 and speaking with jobseekers at all levels who were looking to transition into resources, AREEA has been busy developing a jobs expo that will connect resource industry employers with jobseekers in a very unique way.
The only jobs expo created by the resource industry for the resource industry, the AREEA miningoilandgasjobs.com Expo will run concurrently with the AREEA 2012 National Conference and bring together the resource and allied industries, RTOs, universities and labour hire companies with WA jobseekers at all levels: semi-skilled, skilled and professionals.
Industry and project zones
A unique floor plan and booth configuration allows organisation to be placed in industry or project specific zones.
Each project zone will include the organisations involved in that project, making it easier for visitors to learn about the range of employment opportunities within a particular project.
Similarly, visitors interested in working in a specific sector, such as construction, will find all the relevant organisations side-by-side.
Tailored information sessions
Jobs expos can often leave jobseekers feeling lost in the crowd and it can be difficult for employers to speak in-depth with individuals about the various opportunities that exist.
Unique to the AREEA miningoilandgasjobs.com Expo, resource companies have the opportunity to hold information sessions on their organisation and the various projects they are hiring for, giving insight into the locations; scale; fly-in, fly-out lifestyles; and the types of jobs available.
The expo will also include daily information sessions tailored to different jobseeker groups including university students, graduates, trades people, existing resource workers, women and the unemployed.
Run by industry professionals, these sessions are designed to provide jobseekers with the information and insights relevant to their situation, ultimately arming them with the right knowledge to successfully embark on a career in resources.
It’s an industry-led approach to facilitating real connections between employers and jobseekers and it will take place in Australia’s largest resource state – Western Australia – from 24-26 May 2012 at the Burswood Entertainment Complex, Perth.
