With their message to employers being ‘Count Me In’, women in the Queensland Surat Basin and Western Downs regions are taking part in a new skills development project aimed at increasing local workforce diversity.
A collaboration between AREEA Skills Connect, the YWCA Queensland and Origin energy, the Count Me In project is assisting more than 80 local women to develop new skills and assist local business to implement practices to support diversity in the workplace.
“AREEA Skills Connect is calling all organisations interested in encouraging workplace diversity to support the Count Me In project,” says AREEA Director of Group Services Tara Diamond.
“Employers will have access to a dedicated project coordinator to connect them with newly skilled jobseekers. It provides an excellent platform to stand out as an employer of choice and an equal opportunity advocate.”
An initiative of national resource industry employer group AREEA, with support from the Australian Government, AREEA Skills Connect is a united approach to resource employers’ training and workforce development solutions.
