AUSTRALIAN Resources and Energy Group AREEA is assisting Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Matthew Canavan to kick-start the important work of the Australian Government’s new Resources 2030 Taskforce.
Announced on 28 March 2018, the Taskforce has been set up to examine and make recommendations on ensuring Australia’s resources and energy sector remains globally competitive and sustainable.
It seeks to generate reform ideas that will help ensure the long-term future of Australia’s resources sector. Information about the Taskforce, including its terms of reference and list of members, can be found here.
AREEA is proud to this week be assisting Minister Canavan in beginning the Taskforce’s work through hosting executive roundtable consultations with a select cross-section of AREEA’s broad membership base.
Included in this week’s roundtable talks with the Minister are AREEA’s Chief Executive, Board Members and several member company executives representing the hard rock mining, coal, oil and gas, and services sectors.
“It’s a testimony to AREEA’s membership strength and support base that a number of leaders from across the highly diverse national resources and energy industry will be meeting with Minister Canavan for important industry development discussions this week,” AREEA Chief Executive Steve Knott said.
All AREEA members can expect opportunities for further consultation as the Resources 2030 Taskforce formally commences its work around the nation in the near future.
