AREEA chief executive Steve Knott highlights in this article in The Australian that it was fair that a minority of the Fair Work Commission’s (FWC) current 39 members came from a union background given membership in the private sector was at 10 per cent.
He urged the government to make seven more employer appointments before the next election. “If it doesn’t, the ALP will — and history shows they will — stack the joint again with their union and political mates,’’ he said.
It follows news that Federal Labor will investigate increasing the number of union appointments to the FWC.
