Queensland plans crack down on union excess
THE Newman Government is gearing up for a crackdown against union excesses, including a new code that will force companies to sue unions over illegal strikes.
Under pressure from employer groups after strikes on construction sites have crippled development, Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie has said his department will meet with his Victorian counterparts to see how that state's code of conduct measures have worked.
A submission to the Government from the Australian Mines and Metallurgical Association, and endorsed by Master Builders Queensland, is understood to outline plans to make any company tendering for a government construction contract meet standard requirements.
