Industry support

AMMA members receive a wide range of industry support services as part of their base membership subscription.

AMMA support services are geared specifically towards the resources sector and allied industries and range from facilitating industry forums to lobbying. The full range of our industry support services is listed below.

  • Lobbying: AMMA is the resources sector member of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. AMMA also has strategic alliances with the Minerals Council of Australia and the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association. Through these strategic links, AMMA is able to influence significant national issues that may impact on members.

  • Cooperative action: AMMA maintains close ties with relevant employer and industry organisations that share a common goal. We work cooperatively with these organisations to bring about a legislative and policy environment that is beneficial to AMMA members.

AMMA has cooperative working relationships with:

·         The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

·         The Business Council of Australia

·         The Minerals Council of Australia

·         The State Minerals Councils

·         The Agribusiness Employers Federation

·         The Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association.

·         Advocacy:  AMMA provides advocacy on Industry Awards, thus ensuring a coordinated response from industry in all award based claims. AMMA is also  involved in major test cases on behalf of the resources sector that involve representation before tribunals.

·         Research: The Board Reference Group is driven by the AMMA Board, and plays a key role in identifying current and emerging human resources and employee relations issues. The Board Reference Group then provides strategic input into the development of an industry position on those issues. Supportive research may be externally commissioned or conducted by AMMA staff, as appropriate.

·         Information services: AMMA provides timely information to its members via the monthly AMMA Bulletin, national and branch circulars, emails and the AMMA website.

Networking and information exchange

There are many opportunities for members to network and obtain timely information through regular AMMA forums, as well as through the AMMA National Conference.

  • AMMA forums: AMMA branches facilitate regular industry forums at locations convenient to our members, many of whom are based in remote locations. These forums are designed to keep members abreast of important issues that affect the resources sector.  In addition to our own in-house experts, AMMA also secures external speakers to present on a range of relevant topics. AMMA forums also act as an excellent networking opportunity, facilitating the exchange of information.

  • AMMA National Conference: The AMMA National Conference is an annual event, attended by decision makers in the resource sector.
