ACTU chief's competence comes under fire

Union leaders are dissatisfied with ACTU president Sharan Burrow, saying she lacks competence, is overseas too often, and is shy of attacking the government because of her friendship with Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard.



A leaked paper by Health Services Union national secretary Kathy Jackson contains a string of attacks on Ms Burrow and the peak union body, and several senior unionists on Monday backed her views, News Ltd reported.

They say unions across the spectrum are unhappy with the ACTU's reluctance to push harder for the dismantling of the Work Choices industrial relations regime introduced by the previous government.
