AMMA meets with DEWR to discuss Independent Contractors Act
06-Feb-2006
AMMA's General Manager Workplace Policy, Chris Platt met with officers of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations on 6 February 2006 to present the provisions that AMMA believes should be in the Independent Contractors Act.

AMMA's General Manager Workplace Policy, Chris Platt met with officers of the department of Employment and Workplace Relations on 6 February 2006 to present the provisions that AMMA believes should be in the Independent Contractors Act. Also at the meeting were senior representatives from ACCI and the independent Contractors of Australia.

AMMA is seeking a level of certainty for independent contractors in the Act. Parties need to know whether or not they come under the independent contractor definition. In the event that an 'unscupulous' party tries to exploit independent contractors, AMMA supports a 'rapid, easily accessible and cheap compliance regime' to redress improper use.
