Peter is part of the AMMA mining practice team whose focus
is to provide a comprehensive range of member services covering the
industrial relations and human resource management fields. Peter is also actively
involved in AMMA’s Education, Training and Employment division through
developing and delivering AMMA calendar course training as well as tailored,
company-specific, on-site training on topics such as union right of entry, equal
employment opportunity awareness raising, performance management and contact
officer training.
Before joining AMMA in 2006, Peter worked for the Chamber
of Commerce and Industry Western Australia for 15 years in the provision of
strategic employee and industrial relations advice. This included the
preparation, negotiation and implementation of enterprise or individual
agreements. Peter also handled representation and advocacy in various
industrial tribunals and courts on a wide range of matters including union
disputes, unfair dismissal and wages claims within a variety of industry
sectors such as health and aged care, industrial catering and cleaning,
contract cleaning, aboriginal communities and agriculture.
Peter has provided comprehensive advice and solutions to
employers on most elements of employee relations including disciplinary
and/or termination matters, EEO issues, the development and implementation of
company employee relations policies and strategic planning on redundancies
and transmission of business. Peter has an in-depth understanding of
employment-related legislation and is well versed in assisting employers
develop competitive positions through the application and implementation of
legislative requirements into their business.
Peter holds a Master of Industrial Relations, a Bachelor of
Science and a Diploma of Education.
