This self-paced internet-based course provides participants with the opportunity to work through the framework of the new Fair Work Act 2009 at their own pace either in their office or at home.

A further advantage of this course is that whilst it is self paced, AMMA will provide participants with complimentary support whilst moving through the training via the telephone or email for assistance with queries and questions about the new laws.

Designed as an introduction to the new workplace relations framework this course is intended for human resource, industrial relations, office or operational staff as well as managers seeking to understand the basics of the new fair work system.

The Foundations of Workplace Relations course content has been developed by AMMA in conjunction with the federal government and contains interactive examples and information tailored specifically for the resources and allied services sector.

The course answers questions such as:

§  What are the safety net protections for employees in the resources sector moving forward?

§  What is Fair Work Australia and what sort of matters does it get involved in?

§  What are the industrial agreement options under the new laws?

§  What is the process we need to follow to make new agreements?

§  What rights do unions have to enter your work premises?

§  Can employees take industrial action? If so, how?

§  What is considered a ‘fair’ dismissal under the new system? What is ‘unfair’?

The course is modular based and covers the following topics:

§  The Safety Net (National Employment Standards, Modern Awards and General Protections)

§  Government Regulatory Bodies Roles and Responsibilities

§  Agreement Making and Bargaining

§  Union Right of Entry

§  Industrial Action

§  Termination of the Employment Contract

Our system will allow participants to log in and out of the course as frequently as they wish so as to cater for work and other commitments.

Upon successful completion of the final assessment each participant receives a certificate of completion.
